Rebeca was born and raised in León (Spain). After completing her B. S. in Chemistry at the University of Oviedo (Spain), she earned an M. S. in Chemistry and Sustainability and received an FPU fellowship for graduate studies. During her Ph. D. she studied nucleophilic additions on bipy and phen ligands in rhenium tricarbonyl complexes under the supervision of Prof. Julio Perez. She earned her Ph. D. from the University of Oviedo in 2017 and moved to Princeton University to conduct postdoctoral research on cobalt-catalyzed C-H borylation with Prof. Paul J. Chirik. After completing her postdoctoral research she moved to University of California, Merced, where she is currently working as Assistant Professor.
Her main interests lie on fundamental chemistry that aims to understand and rationally improve applied processes on the fields of catalysis and coordination and organometallic chemistry.
